Questions parents ask
What does the QE entrance exam test?
English and maths: two multiple-choice papers sat in one session at the school. There is only one round, so there is no Stage 2.
When do QE results come out?
In early October. For 2027 entry QE gave 1 October 2026 as the date, by email and in the parent account.
What score does QE need?
A combined score of 225 makes a boy eligible for 2027 entry. Places then go in score order: the lowest score given a place was 235 for 2025 entry.
How many places are there?
180. There is no catchment area and no priority for siblings. Distance to the main gate only separates boys with equal scores.
Can my son sit the test on another day?
Only with evidence of illness or a Year 6 residential trip. A clash with another school's test is not a reason.
